10,000 mile servicing of carburetter, filters and pipe lines.

(1) Carburetter. (Stromberg Dual Carburetter).

Remove carburetter complete from the induction pipe. From the carburetter itself remove the float chamber lid{A. J. Lidsey}, the float with needle from the needle valve attached, accelerator pump piston, pump jet, economiser by-pass jet, pump inlet check valve, idler jets, idle metering screws and both main discharge jet plugs.

All jets removed and all carburetter passages are syringed with clean petrol and should then be blown through with high pressure air.

Except in the case of a very dirty carburetter it is unnecessary to remove main jets and discharge tubes.

If a filter is fitted to the carburetter this should be removed and cleaned as above.

After reassembly check the fuel lever in order to make sure that the float mechanism has not been distorted. Also see that the floats are falling to the bottom of the float chamber when all petrol is removed. Clearances are small and fouling of the floats on the float chamber walls is a common fault.

Reset idling with the engine warm.

N.B. When removing the lid{A. J. Lidsey} of a dual carburetter fitted with internal fast idle, it is advisable to remove first the two screws holding the choke butterfly.

Similar instructions hold with regard to the single carburetter save that the pump discharge tubes can and should be removed for cleaning.
