-2- Horizontal S.U. Carburetters. Unless any dirt lying in the bottom of the float chambers cannot be removed in any other way, it is not necessary to remove the complete carburetter. The pot should be removed and if necessary the piston and suction disk should be cleaned to ensure that the latter will fall freely under its own weight. On reassembly care should be taken that the piston will still fall freely when the pot has been tightened down. After cleaning the piston damper should be refilled with an oil not heavier than S.A.E. 20. The filter located in the float chamber assembly should of course be examined and cleaned. (2) Dismantle, clean and reassembly filter on petrol tank. No novel ideas here. (3) Unless trouble is suspected due to water or gum it should not be necessary to worry about the fuel lines. Nobody yet seems to know quite what is the best thing for gum, but in the case of a lot of water it might be worth while breaking down the fuel line into its complete sections and syringing through with meths. | ||
