CHASSIS.

SPECTRECodename for Phantom III.

The results up to the present indicate that the main difficulty with independent suspension is in connection with hump-backed bridges. The Cadillac is also bad in this respect, i.e. bad to an extent which is considered unacceptable by our customers.

Arrangements are being made to bring through one of the experimental chassis with conventional springing - this will probably be No.4.

The second chassis is now having the body fitted and should be ready for running at the end of February. The question of whether it goes to France or not must depend on whether it is considered good enough for a useful test to be carried out thereby.

The third chassis, which was to have been ready by the end of February, has gone back in date and information was not available as to exactly when it would be ready.

The garage at Shardlow is now being used.

Sidgreaves - MD} referred to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.7/M.A.7.2.35 re Modified Method of Engagement for SpectreCodename for Phantom III Starter Motor, and queried it from the point of view of whether it meant pioneering. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} had not studied the memorandum in question but will do so.
