You will note in a previous memo that this engine ran backwards, both on the Remy and the magneto when attempting to start by hand. It is certainly not like one of our cars for amiability.

I will give you a sketch of a suggested arrangement for a spring combined with a dead weight for the needle valve.
We have also found that the probable reason why you modified the pump was that we believe the fuel pressure gauge does not read at all until the pressure is well over a pound. It is quite likely that this car has been running with three or four pounds pressure.

We thought at first that this was the cause of the needle valve failure but it is not so.
