RE. CAR FOR MR. ROYCE. Handwritten under RE.: X.4219 X.3730 We thank you for your C17/EH14.11.24. We understand that Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} is sending for the Beaton all-weather car - 5-G-11 - to go to the Works for engine overhaul, prior to going to France. We would be glad if on its return to London it could be sent to the Coachbuilders in order that the door dove tails might be re-fitted, door hinges attended to, the hood fabric also is torn and needs a set of new fasteners, most of the present ones having been damaged. If it could besent to Young & CO. of Bromley, for a day or two, they would gladly put these matters right. Concerning the cabriolet on a 40/50, mentioned in our DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1/M7.11.24., this we thought would be the cabriolet body on the underframe, and the third of the closed experimental cars already allocated. As soon as you have found a cabriolet body suitable for the underframe we will instruct Derby to make the necessary parts as quickly as possible, as we would like to have this car ready for Mr. Royce in Feb.
