SECRET. S/W. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X770 CWB7/GM/27-9-27. SPORTS CAR. In order that no time whatever may be lost in completing the 10,000 mile test of this car, it is necessary that I should be available at the moment required. As this will involve making plans some little time ahead would you keep me in touch from time to time with progress so that as soon as possible I may know the exact date on which the 10,000 mile test is likely to commence and therefore to finish. In connection with this car also, do you think that 20 gallons is a sufficient supply of petrol? I do not know what mileage per gallon you are expecting, but imagine it cannot be more than 11. Under these circumstances 20 gallons will carry one 220 miles and one could safely start on a 200 mile run with a full tank without any anxiety as to whether one needed to take any more petrol. With a car of this description however, I think a rather longer range on one tankful is desirable and suggest that the question of increasing the capacity of the tank to 25 or 26 gallons should be considered. The details of this car in avoiding small projections - rear lights, number plates etc., have been exceedingly well worked out, but there appears to have been no provision made for the G.B. plate, which will be fitted in 99 cases out of 100. Perhaps you will put this up to Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} to consider what is the best method of dealing with it. CWB CWB. | ||
