Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GWR. 1245 Levallois Sr/VA16/ET.2.2.38 Re: LUCAS "MELLOWTONE" ELECTRIC HORNS ================================== Apart from the "Owner's Complaint Reports" which we send from this end, we get quite a few complaints concerning the above make of horns, which are as follows: I. Horns are not powerful enough. 2. Too frequently out of adjustment and often only after short service. We find that this is often due to the condensers. Concerning the above type of horn, we have also had 4 cases of the following: A.{Mr Adams} Wire from negative terminal to upper contact (of resistance) broken near the soldered connection. B. Wire from coil to the positive terminal found to be broken. BOLTS C. 3 failures of one of the two screws which hold the horn to the support. The screws were found to be broken near the head and at the commencement of the threaded portion. We should mention that, up to the time of writing, we have had no trouble with the horn relays.
