84057 2.PER.II. FAILURES & FAULTS REPORTED. ENGINE. Petrol pipe from filter to pump broken ( One coil insufficient). Torque reaction dampers unnecessary. Water loss (Extension of outlet pipe from radiator with opening facing forward). Engine tightness after hard run (worse cold). Carburetter troubles. Serious loss of oil from rear of engine ( Breather to engine fitted, scoop fitted to force air into clutch pit). High oil temperature. Front and rear flanges of silencer cracked. Loss of water from gland where it enters cylinder block due to soft aluminium gland. Silencer bands moving, cured by alteration in design of spring clips. Noisy tappets. Noisy engine gears. Noisy oil pump. (Usual). Slight loss of clearance of No. 2 cyl. exhaust valve ( hammered into seat). Attention to prevent oil swishing out of bottom half. SHOCK DAMPERS. Front dampers not solid with frame (two bolt fixing not sufficient) Leaking of oil from glands (rubber ring and poor design of gland cover) Aluminium bracket breaking (Rear dampers). Brackets from chassis frame breaking (Rear dampers) Front shock damper biting in bolt worked loose. BRAKES. Poor - after attention became moderate. Sponginess in rear brakes (toggle shaft winds up). SERVO. Back plate doing little or no work? (Servo inefficient). GEARBOX. Clanking in the drive. Whine from S.S. Reverse plunger on change speed lever vibrates due to 1st. gear, wrong location. End of selector shaft cover knocked loose by buffeting of oil, requires oil groove. Worm gear loose on main shaft. Not sufficient clearance at end of selector shaft housing. | ||
