1021. 19th February, 1941. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/EAG.1/RH.{R. Hollingworth} A.W. Chapman Esq., Ranelagh Gardens, Hurlingham, LONDON. S.W.6. Dear Sir, We are returning to you the sample seat fitted with the tilting mechanism, also a pair of sample seat slides which you have sent us. Regarding the tilting seat, the type that would be suitable for our purpose must have a parallel movement; rising only at the back is not suitable. We appreciate that this is, as far as you are concerned, only in the experimental stage and you may, at a later date, have a fitting that will be adjustable vertically and still remain at the same angle in relation to the floor. If so, we shall be pleased to hear from you. The anti-rattle device on the seat slides appears to be quite a good scheme and should remove the objectionable rattle which often exists with adjustable seats when a passenger is not carried. Please accept our apologies for not returning these fittings before. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED, | ||
