To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from ROY{Sir Henry Royce} c. to EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} c. to Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} STENCIL POSITION ON PASSENGER CAR TYRES Dunlop Standard and 'Fort' Kindly note that the Dunlop Rubber Company write re above as follows: "We feel you would be interested to hear that we "have now made provision for the stencil numbers of car "covers to appear on the same sidewall as that on which a "red spot indicates the lightest point. "The purpose of this arrangement is to enable the "cover number to be easily ascertainable. "In order to balance to some extent the weight of "the valve, the tube should always be inserted in the cover "with the offset valve adjacent to the red spot, and under "the circumstances, the serial number will now automatically "appear on the outside. When such numbers have to be quoted "on documents, the necessity for the possible removal of the "wheel will thus be obviated." ROY.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
