To Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/AJL. c.c. to By X4080 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/AJL1/L325.4.28. WHEEL JACKS FOR 20 HP. With reference to Roy{Sir Henry Royce}4/MG23.4.28. as the Michelin Co. can no longer supply us with Jacks and as the Dunlop Jack now used on the Phantom will satisfy the 20 HP. car conditions, we should not instruct Michelin's to negotiate on our behalf with the firms to whom they have sold their licence. We prefer to use a British article, if a satisfactory one is available. The Dunlop Jack, while satisfying all conditions for the 20 HP. chassis, is not what we could call a good permanent accessory for this model. Having been designed for the larger chassis, it is unnecessarily bulky and strong for the 20 HP. car. We have no objections to it being used however until such time as we can find something better. We do not know of another make of Jack which is suitable; we were a very long time in obtaining the Dunlop Jack for the Phantom chassis and even now it is not 100% efficient. There should be less difficulty experienced in finding a suitable Jack for the 20 HP. chassis as the range over which it is required to operate is much smaller. It would be a sound idea to make enquiries of the various British manufacturers. Below we give the requirements which a Jack must cope with to be suitable for the present 20 HP. chassis :- contd :- | ||
