(3) Shoulder Rest, Strap and Handle.

We want approval of the shoulder rest, support strap and handle.

(4) Shock Damper.

Do we require a Gordon Armstrong shock damper and if we do what sort of controls have we to provide.

(5) Ammunition Tray.

Should there be a tray for the box of ammunition carried on the elevating head of the mounting.

(6) Position of Layer No.3.

Are we to have No.3 layer on the same side of the gun as the gunner or can we have him on the loaders side of the gun as originally projected.

(7) Ejection and Shoot for Case.

With No.3 layer on the gunners side of the weapon there is the danger of his being inconvenienced by the case. Shall we have to consider a shoot or a deflector plate. If a deflector plate is considered to be the solution can we use the shield armouring by placing it between No. 3 layer & the ejection? This depends on whether this shield is counted upon to protect the layer. or not.

(8) Elevation.

We would likethe test at Whale Island to be used to determine exactly what is the maximum depression at which the gun is fired and what is the maximum practical elevation at which the weapon can be used. Also does No.3 elevate the gun whilst the gun is being fired.

(9) Lubrication.

What sort of lubrication should we provide to the trunnions. At the moment there is nothing.
