We should be interested to know whether the transmission groans which were cured on Sir Mortimer Singers' car by freeing the centre joint in the torque tube, had the usual characteristics - which are - that they only occur on the forward drive and are not there on retard - that they occur even with the smallest amount of power on the forward drive - that they come on as distinct periods at roughly, 20 to 30 m.p.h.? It would be interesting to have this information because we have made a special shaft which allows a positive amount of slack in the centre joint.
