EXPENSES.

With reference to the attached.

The average expenses per man at Chateauroux are shewn on the attached sheet. We consider these charges moderate. I have seen Mr. Lidsey in connection with this note, and he says that during their last visit to Chateauroux, no meals have been taken outside the Hotel so that the average cost will be less than shewn on the attached sheet.

We believe the reason Paris have queried the expenses is that during the last visit to Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence by RG.{Mr Rowledge} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Mr. Lidsey and myself, Lidsey paid a lot of the bills. These were naturally higher than the bills at Chateauroux.

I suggest that we ask Paris to confirm that the bills they are querying are the ones we mention above. We should thank them for pointing out the matter, and when the expenses at Chateauroux exceed (without any suitable explanation), the amounts which have been agreed to, we should be pleased if they would point it out.
