-2- Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/LS/7/T.11.1.38 4. Cont'd Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} emphasised the importance of bringing his six cars up-to-date, so that they should be true prototypes of Wraith production. This was agreed to, and if it was necessary to take pieces from RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} intended for the six Experimental production cars, it would be in order to do so. 5. 10,000 miles test. Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} recommended a modified schedule for these tests, this was discussed and agreed to in principle. In view of the importance of gaining quick information on the first Wraith however, it was agreed that this car should concentrate on normal Chateauroux running, and Mx{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}'s car, which will be ready at the end of February, should be used for town work etc. 6. Locking Device on ball ends of Steering Tubes, Ben. & 25HP. By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} has got out a modification to the locking device embodying a split pin, and he will instruct a Depot Sheet to be issued calling for this modification to be applied to all cars as they become available. It was reported that the Wraith had a different type of lock from that fitted on present models. 7. Grooving of Thermoid Clutch Linings - P.III. GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}'s memo of the 8th.instant was discussed. In view of the fact that grooving has been discovered in more than one instance after dismantling a clutch which was functioning satisfactorily, the complaint is not regarded as serious at the moment, but Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} is following the matter up and will investigate and report on the next case. 8. A request was made for the provision of two inspection lights under the bonnet of P.III and Wraith, and schemes will be urged. The lamps are to be standard Lucas parts with the switch embodied in the holder, so that they light up when the lamp is turned. The altered position of the fuse box on Wraith will not be on the 10,000 miles car, but will probably be available for subsequent cars. | ||
