Y4150 1 Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} BY10-P5.7.22. 40/50 CHASSIS. REAR AXLE. Y3457 X 4150 With reference to the statement put forward by OY, from America, that they are using eccentric housings for correcting cross bedding in Bevel Gears, and doing so successfully, we have had one of these axles made experimentally, and Mr Shaw has succeeded in making a pair of gears which were cross bedding in an ordinary axle, to have a satisfactory bedding with this eccentric scheme. Before we do any more in regard to this scheme we would like you to have this axle and run it under loads, in order to see that the lubrication is correct, and that no other snag is likely to crop up, then I think it would be necessary for us to put a standardisation sheet through to permit of these being used when the bedding of the gears demanded them.
