RE STANDARDISATION SHEETS.

With reference to EFC1/T22.8.22, re standardisation sheets for :-

(1) P & R battery, type BD{Mr Berend}11.
(2) Exide battery type 6XRD
(3) R.R Std.Starter Motor built up with solid poles and no insulation between armature plates.
(4) Two series, two parallel, connection of field coil winding of R.R. Std. Starter Motor, together with starter motor cables of increased section of conducting core.

No.1 is still under consideration.

No 3. R and Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} do not consider it would pay to throw away any good material which we have in stock to the extent of £780. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} will doubtless inform you what should be done in this matter when the stock has been exhausted. Please apply to him.

No.4. R.{Sir Henry Royce} is against altering the connections, considering we have improved starter carburetters. He has, therefore, stopped this alteration until it may be proved

(1) That starting is bad;

(2) That it can be improved by the extra speed.

He will thereby save starter parts and therefore retain reliability and save battery.

No.2. I presume this is covered by No.4.
