X 35713 COPY OF LETTER RECEIVED FROM:- THE DAMARD LACQUER COMPANY LTD., 98, BRADFORD STREET, BIRMINGHAM. Our Ref: HVP/MU. Your Ref: Wd{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}4/NJ16621. 17th June 1921. Messrs Rolls-Royce Limited, DERBY. Dear Sirs, In reply to yours of the 16th instant, we regret to note that you have not obtained quite satisfactory results from the FORMITE Moulding Powders. We trust, however, you will not be discouraged by the same as good results are a good deal due to a little experience in handling, and we should be pleased to give you any further help in this respect that we can. We are willing to supply you with the American Bakelite Powders if you wish but we hold no stock and they will have to be imported which would mean a delay of about 4 - 6 weeks. We are sending you, however, a sample of our new Moulding Powder X5 which we think will give you better results. We sent the X4 as we believe you specially asked for the natural colour material which we do not make at the moment in X5. We are glad to note that Messrs. The Lucas Electrical Company support our views that the X5 gives satisfactory results. We could give you fairly prompt delivery of this material. In the meantime, would you care for one of our technical representatives to pay you a visit and give you further help in this matter? As regards Plastic Material, although this is still somewhat in the experimental stage, we are now obtaining quite encouraging results. Before sending you a sample we should be glad to hear whether you propose moulding this in your closed type of mould such as you are using for the FORMITE Moulding Powder, or in open moulds for making stampings and hardening afterwards. We will then be pleased to send you a sample of material which we think is suitable for your requirements. The latter method does not of course give such good results in finish as the final curing tends to spoil the surface obtained during the stamping. Trusting that you will find this X5 material suitable for your work, and although we prefer to supply our own product, we are quite willing to obtain the American Bakelite Moulding Powders for you if you require the same. Yours faithfully, THE DAMARD LACQUER COMPANY LTD., (signed) H.V. Potter. Manager. | ||
