BACK NUMBER PLATES ON PHANTOM CHASSIS.
The information we have as regards the fixing of the back number plate on the Phantom chassis is that this was carried out at Sales request. When the design was sent through (DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}1/M8.7.24) it was stated - "We have shewn a separate number plate which Sales recently asked us to do, to avoid painting the number on the tank, and we should like this adapted for EAC.3".
No experimental tank was ever produced with this fitting.
To alter the present arrangement would mean alteration in design which would have to be put up to W.W.
It would appear that Sales did not supply WW. with sufficient information when they made the original request for this number plate fixing.
