- 6 - Starter Motor. This is in good condition, & examination of brush gear shows it to be clean. It has functioned O.K. Starter motor chain has been adjusted up two notches. Flywheel & clutch, to L.E.C. 2067. G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} 73748. Simplified clutch stop to L.E.C. 2080; & L.O.P. The clutch has operated satisfactorily. It is smooth in action. No signs of jaggers have occurred. We have experienced no slipping of the clutch, & the clutch stop has functioned O.K. No adjustments have been necessary. Standard engine fabric coupling. The coupling is still in a good condition. Sphere & universal coupling. We have had no trouble with this. From outside examination, it appears to be in very good condition. Lightened front axle, G.73975, machined all over. This appears to be still in a good condition. Front brake operating shafts on axle. No appreciable wear has taken place in the bearings, & the shafts have operated satisfactorily. Axle pivots, with modified operating shafts with larger bearings, & lubrication on top of pivots to EX.95I. Front brake pull rods to N.S. 1780, otherwise to L.O.P. G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} 72603. Lean of pivots 0.150". The bearings of pivots & pull rods are still in a good condition. The bearings of operating shafts are also O.K. Steering arms & cross steering tube. Bolts holding steering arms have remained secure, & no adjustment has been necessary to the cross steering tube. Front road wheels, parallel track. We have not noticed any detrimental results from these. Front brakes, drums & shoes. The front brakes have operated O.K. during continuation of the test. On examination, a slight amount of oil was found on N.S. This, as previously reported, is coming from the brass disc rivetted to the brake anchorage. The condition of the shoes was good. A slight squeak had developed in O.S. brake. Condition of drums was good. Front brake equaliser, to L.O.P. F.73224. The slight end play previously reported has still further increased during the test. The cause of this appears to be the giving way of the anchorage on engine side, this being pressed backwards towards the engine base. The end play is now approximately 0.062". The equaliser is in good condition. The bearings are O.K. | ||
