Messrs.Rolls-Royce, Ltd.

model suitable for very hot engines, on which our present type KR3 plug would pre-ignite, and we shall be much obliged if you will be good enough to give these 4 plugs a thorough testing, and particularly to test them under the severest condition of heat with a view to ascertaining if they pre-ignite. We particularly wish to know which form of sparking point gives the best results. We are inclined to favour the point in which the copper pin is brought flush with the end of the plug, providing the copper will stand the temperature.

We shall be extremely obliged if you can get some preliminary tests through for us as quickly as possible, as if these plugs are promising we propose to make a further quantity at once for an extended test, but before going ahead we want to determine how much these samples will stand.

We shall be glad if you will kindly treat the construction of these plugs strictly confidential, as a Patent is pending.

Yours faithfully,

THE LODGE SPARKING PLUG CO. LTD.
Alec M Lodge.
