Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}3/F19.6.20. RE PETROL TANK - FILTER GAUGE MATERIAL. X.3201 X.3451 With reference to your BY11/P17.6.20, complaints from customers, especially in foreign countries, of trouble experienced with failures of the above, are so serious that I certainly think the position warrants our not using any more of the present material so long as we have the improve material available. X.4160 I think the present material could be used for the petrol tank filter when the new filter fixed near the carburetter is standardised, as recommended by Mr. Royce. Under these conditions, although the gauze on the petrol tank filter may corrode, it should not cause the car to be unreliable as it is at present, as the material from this gauze will not choke the carburetter, but be checked in the new proposed filter above referred to.
