To Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} From Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to Nor. c. to E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to De. c. to Wy. re. Phantom - Cooling. Replying to Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}3/E16.9.30. It is correct that the serious troubles with stopped up radiators occurred on Phantom 1. At the time the troubles were reported from outside we had just started to deliver Phantom 11's with similar radiators. As the conditions were the same there was no reason why the Phantom 11 cars should not have the same fault. It was therefore decided to adopt a wider gap between the tubes immediately. Forty to fifty Phantom 11 cars were delivered with the small gap tubes. From the tests we have made, we agree that the square tube radiator promises to be a much more efficient type than the present standard. We are making every endeavour to complete one of the improved square tube radiators as early as possible. HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
