| X261 E To Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale}3/KW.26.8.36. Mr. Leslie Hawkins' Car. This car has come in with three complaints: hard riding, brake squeaks and bumper bar rattles. We recommend that the following work be carried out :- SUSPENSION. (1) Remove shock dampers and hand over to us. (2) Make certain front wheels are in balance. BRAKES. (1) Remove all drums and check bedding with red marking. We should like to see where shoes are bedding now. (2) Make certain rear torsion shafts are not seizing and causing overheating of rear brakes. If O.S. rear appears to have been rubbing, linings will have to be renewed. (3) Make certain before re-bedding shoes that the tipping shoes require a load of 40 lbs. (applied opposite the spring) to depress them. If this is not so, the springs should be renewed and packing washers inserted to give correct poundage. (4) After bedding brakes with tipping shoes solid, set shoes to .012" clearance. BUMPER BAR. Make certain lead weights are not loose. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/A.F.Martindale. | ||
