Dear Mr.Bowey,

I thank you for your letter of the 15th inst., and quote below some comparative oil consumption figures as taken on the test bed on one of our Bentley units.

These were taken with the oil inlet to bearings at 100°C and 4000 R.P.M. and are strictly for your own information.

N.P.1. - .875 pts/hr.
N.P.2. - .875 pts/hr.
N.P.3. -1.30 pts/hr.
Mobiloil Arctic .875 pts/hr.

A new unit is shortly being built and we will endeavour to confine its running on either N.P.1, 2 or 3 oil.

Only in this respect can the effects of lubricating oil be really checked as you will no doubt know, hence our hold up over its trial in waiting for a new unit.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
