WRAITH - STEEL CASTINGS.

I see no reason why the castings detailed below should be ordered from Jessops at 1/4½d.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} and 1/6d. per lb. respectively, when a steel suitable for our purpose can be bought from Gabriels at 10d. and 1/- per lb.

The parts referred to above are :-

Main Lever Housings GW.1590 and GW.1591.
Suspension Brackets for Rear Spring. GW.1893

We do not require the special tensile figures quoted in Messrs. Jessops letter of Feb. 25th. viz. maximum stress 40 tons. The tensile in question is the result of using a higher carbon, and is not due to the use of induction furnaces for melting. The higher carbon is not so good if the brackets have to be patched, as I have already instructed in local places by welding.

I am therefore instructing ROY.{Sir Henry Royce} to buy from Messrs. Gabriels.
