x4044 357 E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Std. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Std.2/MA.29.5.34. We send you herewith a list of features which should be incorporated in the design of self-adjusting tappets for the SpectreCodename for Phantom III engine. (1) Oil supply scheme - this should be similar to that detailed for the Phantom on LeC.3876. (2) Plungers - as detailed for latest J.III and Phantom tappets but having the ball valve seatings spherical instead of sharp edged - ball valve movement to be .006" plus 3. (3) Rocker shaft - as detailed for J.III and latest Phantom & Vulture, but made of S/ZN, hardened and ground. (4) Spacing distance pieces - these should be in the form of springs as used in Cadillac design (similar) to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1360). (5) Eccentrics - white metal lined as on Phantom & J.III, but having .001" diametral clearance on rocker shaft. (6) Oil filter and non-return valve. - this should be fitted in the oil feed to rockers and the filter should not have a bypass. We wish to have these features on SpectreCodename for Phantom III automatic tappets as the LeC. present scheme for them is out of date. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Std. | ||
