X.1775 To Sn.{Mr Sanderson} from Ck.{Mr Clark} Ckl/T9.3.20. RE ABBREVIATIONS. The use of the symbol Ck{Mr Clark} for the undersigned appears to lead to confusion with the symbol for Mr.Cockshott Ct. Will you kindly give instructions that very particular care be exercised by those responsible for sorting out the letters, in order to avoid any such confusion. Such a case has recently occurred which has placed me in a very awkward predicament. A letter, bearing my reference, from Messrs. Lucas', containing important matter upon which Mr. Royce was urgently requiring information, was sent in error to Mr. Cockshott's Dept., and owing to the absence of Mr. Cockshott, has lain there for at least a week. In the meanwhile it was necessary to re-write Messrs. Lucas' and inform them that we had received no answer. You may remember that when it first became necessary for me to use a symbol, you agreed to my using my initials EFC. Everybody had become used to that when you changed the symbol on the list issued without mentioning the matter and so caused some confusion. If we continue with the use of the symbol Ck.{Mr Clark} I do not wish errors to occur because delays resulting therefrom are naturally put down to my account. Hence my request that very particular care be taken. Ck.{Mr Clark} | ||
