Delays and modifications for the 20/25 HP Chassis 'U' Series.

CHASSIS 'U' SERIES. --------------------------------------- With reference to ROY{Sir Henry Royce}4/MG.15.1.32. we are now in a position to release all the material affected by the modifications given in BY/Cgh.{W Clough}6/G.2.12.31. with the exception of the following :- (1). PETROL TANK. Although the Experimental Department have circulated the standardisation sheet in connection with the larger tank, the question of the petrol gauge has not yet been fixed up. (2) RIVETLESS BONNET. The Experimental Department have circulated a standardisation sheet for the rivetless bonnet, but not for the long bonnet, which Sales are anxious to have. (3). INSTRUMENT BOARD. The Experimental Department are not in a position to circulate a standardisation sheet for this, as the sample has not yet been received from Smiths. (4). SPANNERS AND TOOLS. We propose to delay ordering material for these until a decision is made in regard to the recommendations which have been made in regard to the deletion of certain parts. In order to prevent any delay in output we suggest that Items 1, 2 and 3 should not be introduced on the first 25 chassis in 'U' series, so that they will be exactly similar to the last 25 in 'T' series, and unless we receive instructions from Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} to the contary we propose to go ahead on these lines. | ||
