Reply to be addressed to John Marston Limited for the attention of AWD/BR 1114 STD 14th September, 1937 Messrs. Rolls Royce Limited, D E R B Y. For the attention of Mr. Steadman. OIL COOLERS. Dear Sirs, We have received your letter of the 13th inst., concerning the above. We note your report on the experimental Oil Cooler which has been returned to us and we have arranged to redip this and fit thicker side plates. The reason thicker side plates were not fitted originally was because, as you know, our tools are designed for 18 gauge and it is difficult to produce a side plate which is a snug fit on the tubes, by hand. We also note your tests on the used hand soldered Cooler which was converted by us to the dipped type. We have not yet received this cooler from you, but will make a careful examination of it as soon as it arrives. In addition, as soon as we receive the two unused hand soldered cooler which failed on test, we shall dip these and return them to you for a test. We note your remarks regarding the position of the serial number and will arrange in future for this number to be fixed on the bottom edge of the distribution plate. The coolers mentioned above will be marked for the attention of Mr. Steadman when they are returned. FOR JOHN MARSTON LIMITED. Yours faithfully, A.W. Dunn MANAGER | ||
