X1166 Exptl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Bwg.{J. C. Bowring}19/KW. 1st January, 1936. Messrs. S. Smith & Sons (M.A.) Ltd., Cricklewood Works, LONDON, N.W.2. For the attention of Mr. E.H. Bailey. Dear Sirs, Ph.III "Jackalls". 31.12.35. We thank you for your letter G.3/EHB/KW. We note that by fitting .312" piping from pump to rear Jacks, 2 mins. 45 secs. is saved in release time, which is far more satisfactory. You do not say whether you have gained more clearance between the Jack and track rod on full lock now that the Jack has been fitted in a more vertical position. Will you kindly advise. We are agreeable for you to retain the chassis until you have tested out the new front brackets. We shall, however, be pleased if you can give us some idea of a completion date. In the list of weights you have handed the writer you do not give the weight of the junction boxes and fittings. Please advise us of this. We now await your further news of lateral Jack movement under load with tyre removed from rim. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
