RE. TOOLS ON 46-PK AND GENERALLY. X.8580 X.1027.

The tools and spares require different access-ibility, and we recommend :-

(1) A few small light tools in the pocket, or fitted properly in the driver's door.

(2) Some tools and spares should be left in the garage unless the car is going on a long tour, out of reach of a RR. station, or home, when these can go in a box fitted over the silencer.

(3) Under the front seats there is generally room (the exception being with sliding seats, when another box should be fitted to the running board) for the other tools, except the jack, pump, mallet, and wheel spanner. These latter should go in a readily accessible box on the running board by the driver's seat; (but not flush fitting, which is impractical,) the box can be partly sunk if the joint of the cover is at least 1" above the level of the floorboard, because such a small cover can be strong, and have an efficient lip to exclude water all round.

(4) We ought to supply the necessary designs for the storing of the tools, or supply suitable trays or boxes, and pocket wallet for the door.

The flush fitting tool boxes on the running boards are a putrid failure, especially on the above car, owing to water entering, causing stink, mildew, fungus and rust.

I propose EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} should supply illustrations and instructions suitable for the coachbuilders.

R.{Sir Henry Royce}
