-2- 15.7.37. Briefly, the reason we lose so much power is because we demand such a high degree of silence. One of our limitations is the hiss of the tail pipe when passing at full throttle between walls, as on a bridge. This would not enter into the problem of an ordinary autombile. These observations do not mean we are under the impression that what we are doing cannot be improved. We note that you are willing to make a trip to Derby at your own expense in order to discuss the problem in detail, and we think this is a very good suggestion, providing you realise that the chances of employing you as a Consulting Engineer on the subject are somewhat remote. We do think that if we discussed the matter you would learn quite as much as we should, to our mutual advantage. Therefore, in view of the remote chance of financial credit accruing to yourself, we suggest it might be more equitable if the Company paid your return fare from Glasgow to Derby. The Works are closing for the Annual Holiday, but they will be re-opened about the beginning of August, and we would suggest that if you are still considering coming to Derby you might arrange to do so sometime during the first week of August. Yours sincerely, | ||
