1129. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}16/R.{Sir Henry Royce} 16th July, 1937. Douglas Fairweather, Esq., Messrs. Cruikshank & Fairweather, 86, St.{Capt. P. R. Strong} Vincent Street, GLASGOW. C.2. Dear Sir, Mr. Park has passed on to us your letter of the 28th June addressed to him. Dr. Morrison has been in correspondence with one of my assistants on the subject of losses to exhaust systems in general. Whilst we hope to be able to have a discussion with Dr. Morrison on the subject to our mutual advantage, we do not think there is the slightest possibility of our being able to reduce our loss of engine power by modification to the manifold from 20% to 5%. It is unavoidable that Dr. Morrison should not be familiar with the degree of silence we require, or with the characteristics necessary to obtain the type of performance which is acceptable to Rolls-Royce owners. We are quite ready to have a friendly discussion on Exhaust problems in general with Dr. Morrison, but are also fairly certain that we shall give him a good deal more information than he can give us. We have written to him stating that we shall be very glad to have a talk if he feels so disposed. Yours faithfully, For ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
