81487. To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Lov.{Mr Lovesey} c. E/Rbr{Mr Rubbra} E.9/HP.10.11.34. re S.U. Carburetters on Kestrel Engines. This is to confirm that the S.U. carburetter is giving very promising results on our bench test, and if it could be advanced with sufficient rapidity would be a solution of the automatic mixture control problem which might avoid the necessity for using the Claudel Hobson unit on 1935 production, thereby side stepping the difficulty of bringing our present type of carburetter up to the standard required for automatic control. This also confirms that you will arrange to get the remaining drawings of this carburetter for us to go over from the point of view of certain necessary improvements in design, to bring this instrument up to production standard. When we have done this we propose to get Davey over so that these modifications can be embodied in a design suitable for production. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
