Commander Young R.N.
H.M.S.Excellent,
PORTSMOUTH.
Dear Young,
I received the following letter from the D.N.C. this morning. As a result of this I rang up Captain Green, who confirmed that he wanted the first gun despatching with the pedestal type mounting.
I am sending you a copy of a letter I have written to him, clarifying the situation.
It will be a relief when we get the shield and mounting settled.
Owing to the altered programme, I do not think you ought to expect the gun at Hythe before the end of the week.
Yours sincerely,
G 1197/40
