(3) S.7/HP.15.8.32. have got to the old dimensions. Six new sets of parts should be instructed for the larger diameter hypoids, so that all the axles can eventually be converted. Clutch. The clutch springs on these six cars should be made 25% stronger, and the leverage should, if possible, be reduced correspondingly, to maintain as far as possible the same pedal pressure. The six Peregrine chassis should be instructed without alteration as regards the clutch, apart from the alterations specified in the previous paragraph, and the Experimental Department will determine whether the resilient rubber coupling is required or not. Brake Drums. The first six chassis should be produced with Lake and Elliott material - Millenite, for the brake drums, without binding. First Speed-Gearbox. The first three cars will be produced as now, but the remainder will be fitted with the modified first speed scaled down from the design produced for the 20/25 chassis. Front Axle Control. The six cars are to be produced with the front axle control as scaled down from J.3. Shock Dampers. The first six chassis are instructed with the standard shock dampers as used on present production re-arranged for Peregrine. Steering Column Controls. These should be instructed to the present model with the exception of the following alterations:- No.1. The dimming switch control should be reduced in travel, and should be coupled up at the bottom end to a standard Lucas dimming switch instead of the H.M. pattern. It should also have the notches removed so that it will operate with a flick over action in either direction. No.2. Vee notches should be substituted for the square ones at present used for the remaining controls. | ||
