EXPERIMENTAL REPORT.
RADIATOR TESTS ON HISPANO CAR.
The following results were obtained from dynamometer tests of the Hispano car.
The figures give the heat dissipated by the radiator with the top water at a temperature of 90°C.
As in the case of the 40/50 HP. the radiator depended upon the fan for air flow through the core as the car was stationary, and therefore the curves given cannot represent the heat dissipated when the car is running on the road.
The amount by which the heat dissipation of each radiator will be increased when running on the road above the values given, will depend upon the ratio of the cooling due to the motion of the car to that due to the fan.
From the dynamometer tests, the cooling due to the Hispano fan is considerably less than for the 40/50 HP.
Curves are given showing the heat flow to the jacket water at full load. The 40/50 HP. lies considerably above the Hispano and this difference will be more marked if we compare the heat flow for the same power output of the two engines.
The Hispano radiator therefore has the advantage that it is not called upon to deal with so much heat as the 40/50 HP. for the same power output.
