To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} X1269 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Std.18/KW.5.5.36. Phantom III Water Pump Thrust Bearing. We have found on No.9 unit in 32-EX that considerable wear has taken place on the water pump thrust pad, allowing the rotor to foul the pump cover. This pad appears to be of inadequate area, and liable to cause squeaks. We therefore wish to try the scheme shown on the attached drawing Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}123 (this follows out a scheme which has already proved successful on tank engines) - it only necessitates three small details, existing pump cover and rotor spindle being retained. Will you please have this scheme detailed and made, with alternative bearing pads in liquium vitae and oilite. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Std. | ||
