X.4359 You may remember thatduring my visit, when I mentioned that this machine fouled the crankcase breather, this decided Mr. Royce to cross this motor off the list of motors for Goshawk II. It has now been pointed out to me, however, that this statement was based upon dimensions given in their catalogue which have since turned out not to agree with the dimensions of the actual machine. Therefore, owing to the fact that the Rotax AT.4 dynamo appears to be a likely machine, it is considered that it would be a pity after all to drop this motor, but better to go for both machines or neither from each firm, as it is considered unlikely we should want to put on a motor of one make and a dynamo of another. It appears we have under consideration (a) Motor and dynamo from Smiths. (b) " " " C.A.V. (c) Dynamo only from Rotax. (d) No machine from Lucas. It will be seen by R's copy of Mr. Whitehead's Wd {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead} 2/NJ7.6.21 addressed to me, that Wd. {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead} considers that Messrs. Lucas should also have an opportunity of supplying these machines. If, therefore, you could get Mr. Royce to give us HERE a definite decision upon these points, it would | ||
