| -- 8 -- BONNET LOP. E.84563 LEC. 3537. The bonnet knocked considerably with the flexible mounting of the engine. The rod in the side hinges worked forward and jammed in the radiator, making it impossible to open the bonnet. On one occasion, we had to resort to loosening off the radiator to relieve it. There has been less movement and knocks since the engine mounting has been changed. ENGINE SIDE GUARDS. The engine side guard broke completely away from the rivets with the movement of the engine. FOOT AND HAND BRAKE EQUALISER SHAFTS. LOP. G.21051. The lubrication to these shafts is on the excessive side and oil drops onto the front end of the silencer. It is difficult to get the metering of the lubrication to these shafts just right. It is either too much or too little. To overcome the smell of oil that drops on to the silencer, the shield should be made larger. FABRIC ENGINE COUPLING LOP. G.89281. NS.{Norman Scott}3935. The fabric coupling is in a very good condition. FAN TO LOP. E.77673. The fan is efficient at low speeds. It is free from any pronounced noise. The blades show no sign of looseness. The fan belt stretched and came off after 2,500 miles. A new belt fitted has stretched to adjustment limit. The fitting of the smaller driving pulley to prevent belt fouling the brackets of the engine mounting is not of much value. The belt still fouls. FRONT APRON LEC. 3751 TO SUIT CONCEALED FRONT CROSSMEMBER. The front apron has not cracked or come loose during the mileage. WING STAYS LOP. F.80678 LSC.3751. The wing stays have given no trouble. BUFFER CLEARANCES. The buffer clearances have not altered. The front NS.{Norman Scott} and OS. are 2.125" The rear NS.{Norman Scott} and OS. are 5.875" | ||
