X1333 Dr. c.Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 1E-1S 25-8 to BY1/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 25.8.27. ROAD SPRINGS. RE SPECIAL WEST WITTERINGHenry Royce's home town DESIGN OF CLIP. ------------------------------------------------ We are sending you herewith drawing showing the scheme which would be adopted when we used rolled strip instead of clips forged to their final shape. We think this gives you all the information you require. We had intended to make some clips, but this seems very expensive, as they will have to be profile-milled, but if you would prefer to have some clips, we will get the Experimental Dept. to do them. We cannot of course get strip rolled to section unless we order a large quantity. We would like you to agree, if possible, to the clip from drawings, as it will be necessary for us to produce drawings to send to Firths to enable them to be in the position to produce the material and the clips from same. In the meantime, of course, we are awaiting a final decision from R.{Sir Henry Royce} as the result of the bumping tests which were put in hand at R's requeste. Will the Experimental Dept. kindly see that a report as to the behaviour of the clip is sent on. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} By | ||
