NEW DOUBLE BREAKER DISTRIBUTOR FOR BENSPORT WITH MODIFIED VENTILATION. SHOWN ON LEC.3323. We have now completed a prolonged bench endurance test with a distributor modified as above. The distributor ran for 317 hours at 2000 R.P.M., which is equivalent to 20,600 miles on the Bensport chassis, and after running an examination showed the distributor metal parts to be in a satisfactory condition. There was no rust or traces of Nitrons Oxides inside the head, but the top of the cam had rusted slightly where it fits inside the H.T. rotor, there being no ventilation at this point. This rusting can be prevented by well greasing the top of the cam before fitting the rotor. We recommend therefore the adoption of this ventilation scheme for the double breaker distributor.
