brought Warwick - Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 's assistant - by 7.30 the same evening. Warwick worked all night on the car and this morning when I tested it with him I did find certain improvements, notably in the carburation, but the important factors for criticism still remain. All the comparatively easy gradients between our office and Hampstead which have previously formed showy demonstration tests for our 40/50 h.p. car, have to be washed out for this small car, as the pieces of road and gradient referred to merely demonstrated its want of power and the fact that you have to gear change, such as on Primrose Hill.

I understand that the pistons in the engine of this car have been superseded in so far as a scraper ring is now fitted which would prevent smoke exhaust etc.

Undoubtedly for our demonstrating purposes, we must have as low a geared axle as possible. I have therefore arranged with Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} to-day for the car to be returned to him this evening driven by Warwick. They will fit on a 13-tooth axle instead of the 14-tooth, which there is now, and we shall therefore get a little better impression of acceleration and general running, for it is not likely during the next few weeks we shall have to consider high speed at all with this car.

I do not know yet when the car will be returned, but Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} is well aware that we have no demonstration car until this is with us again.
