You will recall that on the occasion of Mr. Armitage's visit to these Works last week a discussion arose concerning the return of four Phantom III Driven Plate assemblies, one of the four Plates being brought personally by Mr. Armitage and handed to Mr. Smith, and we believe that it was ultimately agreed that the four Clutch assemblies should not have been returned. The remaining three have been returned (as sent) under cover of their Advice Note S.9277 of the 16th inst. It is probably advisable that Mr. Smith explains fully to the people responsible for assembling the Clutches the limits to which you have agreed to pass the Clutch Assemblies, and thus avoid the unnecessary return of details which are urgently required by the Works. We believe that they were rejected through the .390 dimension being exceeded, and, we believe that the alleged defect complained of has no serious effect on the performance of the Clutch, this we understand was demonstrated in your presence. You will no doubt make the matter quite clear to the Works and those concerned to avoid what Messrs Borg & Beck consider unnecessary rejections. Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
