Swindell} Do you agree Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} PHANTOM II - EXHAUST VALVES. ------------------------------ From the evidence it is quite clear that the cause of the trouble originally was a rather weak area to the valve about and around the seating. The modification which introduced a stouter stem and a very much heavier head was not really a rational one, as the stretching was not actually in the stem but the result of the head closing in. The evidence since accumulated with the modified head shown on E.85505 prevented the stretching, also justifies us going back to the original diameter of the stem. I therefore propose that we shall produce a drawing showing the improved head with the original diameter of stem, and this will be instructed to the Repair Department for replacement work on Phantom II.
