RUDGE WHITWORTH WHEELS.

In discussing this matter with C.J. and R.{Sir Henry Royce} yesterday, I was requested to point out that on the 29th August last, Mr. Royce agreed, in R2/M29.8.23, that Mr. Pugh's statement of the modifications seemed to meet the objections R.{Sir Henry Royce} had to their scheme, and he therefore agreed to a set of the new type wheels being fitted to a car for test.

We are anxious to have these tested as soon as possible, as if we can overcome the past difficulties with regard to the design of these wheels, it will save us approximately £10,000 per annum on the cost of wheels.

Under these circumstances, it will be appreciated how very important it is that these tests should not be delayed a single day, but that they should be treated with the utmost urgency, as every day lost will be a loss to the Company of approximately £33.

Please let me have a report of exactly what is the position now, and what arrangements are being made for these wheels to be tested at the earliest possible moment, with a view to their being made standard on our cars if found satisfactory.

B.J.
