Such stiffening may have an effect on steering or "jellying". Hence the apparent necessity of pushing ahead with bumper tests.

(6) Lamps and Switches.
1st chassis.
Will not have stop and backing light or switches. Will have an R.Bosch (or other) foot dimming switch to left of clutch pedal. Will be fitted with Lucas P.100 headlamps adapted for dimming.

2nd chassis.
Proposed that this should have the full scheme. i.e.-
(1) American head, side and rear lamps (ordered).
(2) Switches for dimming, stop light and backing lights, as proposed for production.

Note 1.
8 suitable Westinghouse Mazda 12-16 volt 21-32 c.p. bifilament bulbs have been brought over, which can be used in American headlamps.
This is the general type of bulb which R.R.A.I. propose to use. The 12 volt bifilament bulbs are available and fairly widely distributed in U.S.A.

Note 2.
There has been some doubt about the headlamp posts. It is now proposed that, by the supply of American headlamps for second expl. car it will be possible for R.R.Ltd. to gain information which will enable them to complete the headlamp posts on the 200 production chassis, with wiring for same, thus avoiding any division of responsibility.

Note 3.
Lamps fixed to the rear mudguards, which have been previously discussed, are not favoured as they involve a division of responsibility in wiring. The favored scheme is therefore a three-function rear lamp of the present general American type.

(7) Clutch.
1st chassis. Standard clutch.
2nd chassis. Clutch with fabric on driven disc.

Both chassis.
(8) Aluminium Cyl.Head.
R.R.A.I. no longer desire C.I. head in viewof results with present alloy.

Both chassis.
(9) Chromium Finish.
Staybrite, chrome and nickel finish as on Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}'s car.

Both chassis.
(10) Radiator Shutters.
Automatic shutters of present expl. type.
