In reply to the first paragraph of your memo.
BY12/P21.4.21 re LeC.1349, Mr. Royce says -

"The suggestion you make had consideration at the time the design was inhand. One of the bolts needs to be as shewn, on account of the ball bearing and they were both made alike for interchangeability".

With regard to the latter suggestion in your memo. to produce the gears mentioned closely to size by means of finishing dies to exclude the necessity for machining on the bosses and webs, Mr. Royce sayd "yes", and remarks that the surfaces in question are often turned to remove carbonisation.
