W. A.{Mr Adams} Robotham Esq.,
Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd.,
Derby.

Dear Mr. Robotham,

With reference to your visit to these works yesterday, as promised I enclose herewith copies of our Service Manuals dealing with our 7.7 litre heavy oil engine in both Direct Injection and Comet Mark III form.

In connection with your enquiry as to the cost made by Messrs. Ambrose Shardlow Ltd. for "Tocco" hardening our crankshafts, I find this charge is 42/6d.

As explained yesterday, we only harden our main bearings, and for your information I enclose herewith a finished drawing of this crankshaft, part number A.14929, together with a process drawing, being the state of the crankshaft as submitted to Messrs. Ambrose Shardlow before hardening.

In view of your interest in the small size of valve we use for this 7.7 litre oil engine, I enclose herewith drawings of the cylinder heads and valves for both types of combustion chamber.

I was very glad of the opportunity of meeting you again yesterday, and to discuss problems of mutual interest to us both, and if we can be of any further assistance to you at any time, please do not hesitate to either write or come to the works.

Yours faithfully,
For THE ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT CO. LTD.

(G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} ROBINSON).
CHIEF DESIGNER.
